The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said on Thursday that the International Commission of Inquiry has proven that Israel has committed and continues to commit the crime of genocide in the Gaza Strip for more than 23 months.
In a press release, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor added that the commission confirmed that Israel is committing four of the five acts that constitute the crime of genocide: “willful killing, causing serious bodily or mental harm, imposing devastating living conditions, and preventing births.”
It noted that the report leaves no room for denial or claims of ignorance on the part of states supporting Israel, and makes their continued support deliberate and conscious complicity in the crime.
The Monitor explained that the commission considered the statements of the Israeli authorities to be direct evidence of genocidal intent, and that the pattern of behavior on the ground is circumstantial evidence supporting this intent.
It noted that the commission warned that the intent to destroy Palestinians as a group is not limited to Gaza, but extends to the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory, including the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor noted that the committee urgently called on all states to halt the transfer of arms and jet fuel to Israel, prosecute those involved, ensure that individuals and companies within their jurisdiction are not implicated in crimes, and fully cooperate with the International Criminal Court’s investigations.
