The Israeli newspaper Maariv stated that the city of Eilat, in the south of occupied Palestine, has become one of the most attacked cities in the world over 9 months of fighting. In reference to the attacks by the Yemeni Armed Forces directly against the Israeli occupation in support and backing of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, which are launched by the Yemeni forces to force the occupation to stop its aggression on Gaza and lift the siege on it.
The information reported by the Hebrew newspaper came in the context of the newspaper’s news of the Yemeni attack last Thursday using a drone that targeted a hotel in the heart of Eilat, which reached its target, exploded, and ignited a fire on one side of the hotel.
The newspaper said that the “Eilat” municipality decided to cancel the “Salihot” light show scheduled to take place last Thursday at Dekel Beach on the day of the attack on the hotel. The mayor of Eilat, the commander of the Eilat District Police, and leaders of the security, emergency, and rescue forces decided to cancel the show after assessing and inspecting the site where the Yemeni drone, which hit the tourist hotel in Umm Al-Rashrash, called in Israel “Eilat.”
The newspaper added that over 9 months, Eilat has been targeted by at least 280 missiles and drones from four fronts: Yemen, then Iran, then Iraq, then Syria. The newspaper confirmed that protecting this city from attacks has become a major challenge for the Israeli occupation army, “which operates various defense systems, including reconnaissance aircraft, the Iron Dome, and additional interception systems.”
In this context, the mayor of Eilat said that the city is on the verge of economic collapse due to its reliance on tourism. In reference to the Yemeni attacks have disrupted the nature of life in Eilat, which is based on a tourism economy, and because of the repeated attacks from Yemen, the city is no longer a destination for Zionist settler tourism.
