The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Tuesday that hospitals are only a few days away from shutting down due to fuel shortages.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page today, the ministry said that the fuel shortage crisis in the remaining operating hospitals in the Gaza Strip is entering an extremely dangerous phase.
It added, “A few days could bring scenes of vital departments shutting down, which would exacerbate the health crisis and expose the lives of patients and the wounded to certain death.” The ministry explained that technical and engineering procedures for scheduling operating periods have become ineffective with the interruption of fuel supplies.
The ministry renewed its urgent appeal to all concerned parties to intervene to ensure that fuel reserves are replenished in hospitals, to avoid a catastrophe with unforeseeable consequences.
