The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed on Monday that information received from inside Israeli prisons regarding the conditions of detained medical personnel reveals catastrophic conditions and systematic abuse of them.
The ministry explained in a press release that 361 medical personnel are being forcibly detained in Israeli prisons, while the Israeli authorities continue to prevent human rights and humanitarian organizations from monitoring their conditions and examining their detention conditions.
A Call for International Pressure
The ministry renewed its call for human rights and international organizations to take immediate action and pressure the occupation to release the detained medical personnel, warning of the worsening of their suffering in light of the medical neglect and inhumane detention conditions they are subjected to.
Ongoing Genocide in Gaza
The Ministry indicated that what is happening to the prisoners falls within the context of the genocide committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, with American and European support. This includes killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrest, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt these violations.
