Human rights organization: The occupation continues its crimes of sexual violence against prisoners amid the world’s silence

The Palestinian Center for the Defense of Prisoners affirmed that Israeli occupation forces continue to perpetrate the most heinous crimes against Palestinian prisoners, subjecting them to harsh and inhumane detention conditions that lack the most basic necessities.

In a statement issued today, Sunday, and received by the Palestinian Information Center, the Center indicated that Hebrew media outlets have once again revealed one of the occupation’s most egregious crimes: the documented and filmed sexual assault of a Palestinian prisoner, which was subsequently leaked to the media. The Center asserted that this crime reflects the profound moral decline of the Israeli security and military establishment.

The statement clarified that the debate within Israeli circles does not revolve around the heinousness of the crime itself, but rather around who leaked the recording. According to the center, this reflects the occupation regime’s lack of humanity and its disregard for the lives of Palestinian prisoners.

The statement further explained that this incident exposes a facet of the brutality of the occupation’s leaders and soldiers, particularly within the Israeli Prison Service, which has been practicing policies of torture and sexual humiliation for two years with the direct support of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who openly boasts about the crimes he commits against Palestinian prisoners.

He pointed to the double standards of the international community, noting that Western parties and influential figures recently demanded that the Palestinians hand over the bodies of Israeli prisoners, while these voices remain completely silent regarding the horrific crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners, including women, children, the sick, and the elderly, whose numbers exceed ten thousand.

The center called for a firm international humanitarian and ethical stance to put an end to these ongoing crimes, warning that their continuation will deepen the tragedy and keep the conflict burning for decades to come.
