The United Nations calls for the opening of Gaza crossings and holds Israel responsible for the blockade

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights called for the immediate opening of all crossings into the Gaza Strip to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the population, who are facing catastrophic conditions two years after the war.

“Israel bears full responsibility for the insufficient number of aid trucks entering the Strip,” said Seif Majango, a spokesperson for the High Commissioner, in a press statement on Monday. He added that the continued closure of the crossings is exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and undermining international relief efforts.

Maganjo condemned the Israeli bill aimed at executing Palestinian prisoners, calling on the international community to pressure the occupying authorities to immediately halt its passage. He asserted that its implementation would constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

The UN spokesperson also affirmed that the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights had documented grave violations and instances of torture perpetrated by the occupying forces against Palestinians, emphasizing that these practices necessitate an international investigation and serious accountability to ensure that impunity is not tolerated.
