UNICEF warns of continued Israeli obstacles

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned on Tuesday of the continued obstacles placed by Israel on the entry of vital supplies needed to save children suffering from acute malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires confirmed during a press conference in Geneva that 938,000 packages of ready-to-use infant formula have been held since last August. He noted that restrictions on the entry of essential humanitarian items, such as maternity kits, solar-powered refrigerators, spare parts, generators, and water purification materials, are severely hindering humanitarian efforts in the Strip, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Peris explained that the volume of humanitarian aid reaching Gaza has increased significantly in recent weeks, reaching 5,500 truckloads between October 12 and November 10. However, many essential supplies remain blocked from entering.
