Israeli airstrike targets Hezbollah commander in Beirut’s southern suburbs

Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike targeting a residential apartment building in the Haret Hreik area of ​​Beirut’s southern suburbs, causing extensive damage and fires on the upper floors.

According to initial reports, the strike targeted a Hezbollah commander named Abu Ali al-Tabtabai.

Rescue and civil defense teams are working to recover the wounded and extinguish the fires, amidst a heightened security presence in the surrounding area. Israeli aircraft continued to fly intensively over Lebanon following the strike.

A video circulating on social media shows a large amount of debris and dust resulting from the Israeli airstrike, as well as damage to parked cars in the vicinity of the targeted site.

This is the second such attack today. Earlier, a person was killed when an Israeli drone targeted him while he was carrying out repair work in the town of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military announced that it targeted a “senior Hezbollah operative” in the Lebanese capital.

In a brief statement, the military said, “A short while ago, the IDF carried out a precision strike targeting a senior Hezbollah commander… in Beirut.”

Israeli media outlets quoted Israeli sources as saying that the commander of Hezbollah’s military wing, Ali Tabatabai was killed in the strike.
