An analysis of the contents and implications of the “Chief of the General Staff’s” message to the Lebanese resistance

On the 4th of Jumada al-Thani, 1447 AH, the Chief of the General Staff of the “Sana’a Forces,” Major General “Yusuf Al-Madani,” directed an “important message” to the military leadership of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance. This followed the assassination of the prominent Lebanese leader “Haitham Ali Al-Tabtabai” and his companions, all of whom were martyred due to an Israeli aggression that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut on the 2nd of Jumada Al-Thani, 1447 AH.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The message, which appears “protocol in form,” carried significant political and military implications in its content, reflecting the true positioning of Yemen today within the map of current regional tensions. It also delivered direct messages regarding the trajectory of Sana’a’s regional alliances and its vision of the ongoing conflict in the region within the framework of the principle of “unity of the battlefields.”

The Israeli aggression on the southern suburb of Beirut and the recent assassination crime represented an extension of a broader Israeli escalation phase stretching from Gaza to Lebanon and Syria. Therefore, the message from the Yemeni Chief of Staff came as a clear signal that Yemen is closely monitoring the “Israeli aggressive behavior” and views the targeting of resistance countries and their leaders as aggressive conduct requiring a firm response within the network of regional alliances.

The Yemeni message came at a highly sensitive time, coinciding with the expansion of the circle of Israeli assaults on Lebanon and countries of the region and the growth of Israeli-American endeavors aimed at “disarming the resistance,” in addition to the tendency of the Israeli military and political establishment towards opening a new war front with Lebanon. In the face of this tense scene, the Yemeni message came to affirm that “Sana’a” is an active and inseparable part of a regional military equation concerned with responding to the Israeli escalation.

By emphasizing “Lebanese sovereignty,” “international law,” and “the rejection of aggressions,” the message sought to place the Yemeni position within a discourse that views the recent Israeli military moves as exceeding the rules of engagement established over past years, amidst Israeli-American efforts to reshape the regional balance of power in a way that serves Israeli interests and Zionist expansionist projects in the region.

Therefore, the Chief of Staff’s message carried—indirectly—a confirmation that military movements in the region can’t be read in isolation from the American role and that the current tensions place Sana’a in a position intersecting with other parties who see that Western security approaches in the region deepen the atmosphere of conflict.
