Civil defense in Gaza announces the collapse of four buildings

The Civil Defense in Gaza announced the collapse of four buildings in Gaza City due to the storm hitting the region, with no injuries reported.

In a statement issued Thursday, the Civil Defense warned residents against living in buildings at risk of collapse due to the storm.

The statement indicated that the buildings collapsed in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, the Al-Shati refugee camp, and Tel Al-Hawa in Gaza City. These buildings were sheltering a number of displaced Palestinians who had sought refuge there due to the lack of alternative housing. No injuries were reported.

The Civil Defense explained that in the past 24 hours, it received more than 2,500 appeals for assistance from displaced people whose tents were flooded by the storm.

Ismail Al-Thawabta, the director of the Government Media Office in Gaza, had previously revealed the worsening humanitarian crisis in displacement camps, where tens of thousands of tents were damaged by successive storms and a lack of basic supplies.

For the second night in a row, rainwater flooded displacement camps, coinciding with the impact of a deep low-pressure system that will continue until Friday evening, in cold weather and low temperatures.
