Heavy rains flood most shelters, and tents are unable to protect displaced people

Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal confirmed that the recent rains have flooded approximately 90% of shelters, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation for displaced people.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Bassal explained that tents failed to provide even minimal protection for residents during the storms, emphasizing the urgent need for mobile homes as an immediate solution to alleviate the suffering of the population and address the challenges of winter.

He noted that the recent storms caused the collapse and flooding of more than 27,000 tents sheltering displaced people, describing the situation as catastrophic. He added that the damage has affected more than 53,000 tents, some completely destroyed and others partially damaged.
