The United Nations warns against the continued targeting of civilians in Gaza by the Zionist occupation

The United Nations warned that civilians in the Gaza Strip continue to face grave dangers as a result of airstrikes, artillery and naval bombardments, and gunfire by the Israeli occupation, including the targeting of residential areas, exacerbating their suffering which has persisted for over two years.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stressed in a statement that civilians are protected under international humanitarian law wherever they are, and that the utmost caution must be exercised during military operations to protect them and civilian infrastructure.

The UN office noted that shelter partners provided emergency assistance to more than 5,600 families last week and more than 85,000 families last month, while emphasizing the urgent need for sustainable solutions and the entry of materials and equipment to repair damaged buildings.

The UN and its partners stressed the necessity of lifting restrictions on humanitarian work and enabling them to deliver vital supplies and equipment without hindrance.
