Gulf fears escalated on Sunday over the consequences of Yemen’s decision to enter the conflict between the “Axis of Resistance” and the U.S.-Israeli aggression.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
Qatar issued its strongest high-level warning to Gulf states.
Former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim warned against the Gulf sliding into a “long war of attrition,” considering that the entry of the Ansar Allah “Houthi” movement into the line of events increased the complexities of the scene in the region.
The Qatari official’s warnings came a day after Yemen announced the start of its operations against the Israeli occupation.
The Qatari statements regarding entering Yemen come amid mounting fears in the region that the escalation could widen to include the closure of the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, the last supply line for Gulf states and currently the most important oil export corridor, in light of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to experts, the Qatari warnings include an indirect call for Gulf states not to engage in any military escalation pushed by the US.
Yemen had confirmed in a statement by its military spokesman that its operations would not target any Muslim country but linked this to the failure of any of those countries to engage in the American-Israeli escalation against Iran.
