Araghchi: Iran will continue its role in protecting security in the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Friday that his country will continue to perform what he described as its “historic duty” in maintaining security in the Strait of Hormuz, following his meeting with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

Araghchi said in a post after the meeting that he held a “constructive dialogue” with the Indian foreign minister addressing regional developments, noting that the discussions emphasized Iran’s role in protecting navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that Iran is a “reliable partner for all friendly countries,” affirming that these countries can trust the security of their trade and maritime shipping through the region.
