An American attempt to resume negotiations with Iran fails, and the latter insists on full control of Hormuz and sets its most prominent conditions

Qatar failed on Tuesday to hold a new round of American-Iranian negotiations that President Donald Trump had aspired to.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced that there are no arrangements for a new American-Iranian meeting. The Qatari announcement came during a press conference by the Foreign Ministry spokesman in Doha.

The US had announced the dispatch of its high-level delegation, led by US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The team has already arrived in Doha, following Trump placing great hopes on holding a round of negotiations with Iran in Doha.

Iran denied its desire to hold a new round of negotiations.

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated that an Iranian technical team has arrived in Doha to follow up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding’s terms, specifically those related to lifting sanctions on Iranian oil and frozen assets.

Iran renewed its insistence on implementing the terms of the understanding before any entry into new negotiations.

These moves on the Iranian file come after two days of clashes in the Strait of Hormuz, following America’s attempt to open new routes for ship passage in an effort to bypass Iranian measures, while Iranian forces responded forcefully to consolidate the reality of managing the strait.

The arrival of the delegations to Doha coincided with a new round of Iranian-Omani discussions regarding the management of the strait.
