Lebanese parliamentarian Melhem Khalaf warned on Saturday about the danger of the Israeli army setting up crossing gates inside the occupied Lebanese territories, considering this a ‘blatant violation’ of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a fundamental breach of the framework agreement.
On Wednesday, the Lebanese news agency reported that the Israeli army had established crossing gates between the ‘yellow zone,’ the border area, and the South Litani region, without providing further details about the nature, number, or locations of the gates.
The ‘yellow line’ is an imaginary line imposed by Israel during its last aggression on Lebanon, referred to as the ‘security strip,’ which in some parts extends up to about 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory from the border with Israel.
Israel continues to carry out raids, bombings, and repeated violations in Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreement being in effect since November 2024 and the continued implementation of the ‘framework agreement’ signed on June 26, 2026, which calls for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese territories.
In a statement, MP Khalaf (Independent) said, ‘What is being rumored about the Israeli occupation army establishing crossing gates inside Lebanese territory, or between parts of it..If true, it would be a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a fundamental breach of the framework agreement.
