Oman Hints at Withdrawal from Yemeni-Saudi Mediation, and Its Foreign Ministry Defends Iran

The Sultanate of Oman hinted on Tuesday at withdrawing from mediation between Sana’a and Riyadh.

This comes following a campaign against it carried out by Yemeni forces loyal to Saudi Arabia.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Sultanate issued a statement calling on what it described as “Yemeni parties” to exercise restraint, adhere to the existing truce, and resume the political path through the United Nations in a manner that achieves security and stability for the region’s countries.

Oman’s statement came on the eve of remarks by its Foreign Minister, Badr Al-Busaidi, in which he defended Iran.

Al-Busaidi indicated that the threat to Gulf countries is not from Iran but from the Israeli occupation.

These remarks come following a campaign by Saudi Arabia against the Sultanate, against the backdrop of the arrival of an Iranian aircraft carrying a Yemeni delegation that participated in the funeral ceremonies of the Supreme Leader.

The campaign included insults and accusations against Muscat of involvement in transporting the delegation, even though the aircraft was Iranian and crossed maritime routes before reaching Yemen.
