Sana’a Threats Disrupt Saudi Navigation… Extension of Closure for 3 Airports in the South of the Kingdom

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The US Federal Aviation Administration website announced today that Saudi Arabia has extended the closure of Abha, Jizan, and Najran airports until Wednesday evening, an indication of the continued state of disruption in air navigation in the south of the Kingdom due to Yemeni threats.

The site reported that “Saudi Arabia extends the closure of Abha, Jizan, and Najran airports until Wednesday evening.”

Earlier, specialized sites tracking air navigation movement had shown “the continued closure of Abha Airport.”

The Yemeni Armed Forces had warned all airlines against crossing Saudi airspace, affirming that this warning will remain in effect “until the siege on Sana’a International Airport is lifted.”

Observers believe that the extension of the closure of the three airports reflects an implicit Saudi acknowledgment of the effectiveness of the Yemeni threat, and an inability to secure the airspace in the south of the country, in a new equation imposed by Sana’a that there is no security for Saudi airports unless the siege on Sana’a Airport is lifted.
