The absence of the UAE from the list of Iranian targets in the recent escalation wave raised questions about the reasons for its exclusion from the strikes, despite being previously subjected to Iranian attacks targeting sites linked to the American presence.

This comes as Tehran has focused its operations on directly targeting American military bases and sites in several countries in the region, in an attempt to send messages to Washington without expanding the confrontation with Gulf countries.

In this context, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing its grave concern over the developments of the escalation and called for the immediate cessation of hostilities between the United States and Iran, and a return to negotiations and diplomatic solutions, while emphasizing the need for restraint and avoiding any steps that might push the region towards further instability.

Observers believe that the Emirati position reflects Abu Dhabi’s keenness to distance itself from the military confrontation and avoid any escalation that could affect its security and economy, especially given the importance of the stability of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which the UAE Foreign Ministry emphasized in its statement, also stressing the protection of civilian facilities and infrastructure and rejecting their targeting.

It is noteworthy that Abu Dhabi has repeatedly stated through its foreign ministry that it does not allow the use of its lands, airspace, or waters to carry out attacks against Iran, and that it follows a policy of neutrality and de-escalation.
