The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned on Thursday of the catastrophic consequences of halting chemotherapy treatment protocols for cancer patients in the Gaza Strip, asserting that this suspension represents a “slow death sentence” for thousands of patients.
According to Palestinian media, the Ministry explained that cancer treatment departments have been completely paralyzed due to the depletion of specialized medications, leading to a total cessation of chemotherapy.
The Ministry emphasized that the interruption of treatment doses does not merely mean a postponement of treatment, but rather leads to a rapid recurrence of tumors and a deterioration in the patients’ health, threatening the lives of thousands of patients, including children and women.
It noted that many patients are suffering severe pain due to the shortage of medications, including essential painkillers, and the continued inability to travel outside the Gaza Strip for treatment.
The Ministry appealed to international organizations and relevant authorities for urgent intervention to facilitate the entry of medications and specialized treatments and to ensure the continued provision of healthcare for cancer patients in Gaza.
It is worth noting that the Ministry has consistently warned of a critical deterioration in the stock of medications and medical supplies in the Gaza Strip, amidst a rapidly escalating shortage that is exacerbating the health crisis and threatening the lives of thousands of patients as the Israeli aggression and blockade continue.
