One-third of US precision munitions depleted… A report reveals the scale of consumption during the confrontation with Iran

ABC News reported that the US military has consumed about one-third of its precision munitions stockpile during the recent confrontation with Iran, indicating that the scale of military expenditure on defense and attack systems has led to a significant decline in the inventory of several prominent missile interception systems.

According to the report, the “THAAD” system topped the list of the most depleted systems, after US forces launched between 190 and 290 missiles out of a total of 360, reducing its inventory by 70 to 80 percent. The “SM-3” system also used between 130 and 250 missiles out of 410, meaning more than half of its stockpile was consumed. In contrast, the “Patriot” system recorded the highest number of missiles launched, with usage ranging between 1,060 and 1,430 missiles out of a total of 2,330, equivalent to about 61 percent of its inventory.

The network considered that these indicators reflect increasing pressures on precision munitions stockpiles and US military supply chains, which could affect Washington’s ability to maintain deterrence levels and provide fire support if confrontations continue or new military crises arise.
