Yemen claims responsibility for a wide-scale attack east of Saudi Arabia and reveals the targets

The Yemeni forces confirmed on Monday that they had renewed attacks on Saudi oil facilities, following the Kingdom’s announcement of being attacked in the east.

The official spokesman for the Yemeni forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, explained that a number of sensitive targets for crude oil supply and transport from eastern Saudi Arabia to Yanbu were struck.

The points were targeted with drones.

Brigadier General Saree considered the new attack a response to the enemy’s drones breaching Yemeni airspace, referring to the Turkish “Bayraktar” drone that the Yemeni forces managed to shoot down in Al-Jawf governorate on the border earlier on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia had earlier confirmed that it was subjected to a new attack in the east.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry confirmed that the drones targeted oil facilities, while the Saudi Defense Ministry claimed to have intercepted some of them.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry’s statement attempted to blame Iraq, claiming that its territory was used in the attack.

Yemen’s claim of responsibility indicates that the Yemeni forces have begun using multiple routes to reach the most important Saudi targets in the eastern region, where Yemen has previously carried out significant operations, most notably the targeting of oil fields and refineries in Buqayq and Khurais in 2019.
