Why are the Houthis striking Al-Mokha at such a high intensity?

For the sixth consecutive day, the Yemeni forces in Sana’a continue to deliver powerful strikes against Saudi military mobilizations in Al-Mokha, at the southern tip of Yemen’s western coast. But why Al-Mokha?

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

According to the explanations given by the coalition-loyal factions, including Saudi Arabia, the matter concerns Sana’a’s pursuit to control Bab Al-Mandeb. They are trying to link regional developments to the new escalation in Yemen, aiming to turn the international community against them in this battle by raising fears of the closure of the vital strait. However, the reality is completely contradictory. Sana’a forces are already militarily imposing themselves on all factions in that strategic area, whether by land, sea, or air, and could easily take control. But Sana’a’s strategy appears to be entirely different and far beyond the coalition’s capacity to comprehend.

With the collapse of the Saudi truce in Yemen, Saudi Arabia laid out strategic plans to deploy new cards in Yemen in order to keep the confrontation confined to Yemeni territory. Saudi Arabia expected that Sana’a forces would launch an attack on Marib and take control of it as a wealthy oil region. Knowing Sana’a’s ability to decisively win that battle, it devised a new plan to capitalize on the attack on Marib by pursuing gains on the western coast front, which represents a vital outlet for it, having shifted all its oil exports through its routes. In recent months, Saudi Arabia secretly deployed military mobilizations, successfully incorporating the Emirati factions on the western coast under its supervision. It was eager to achieve a decisive victory by advancing from Al-Mokha towards Hodeidah and seizing its most important ports, according to American and Israeli media reports.

According to the data, these mobilizations were under the surveillance of the Yemeni forces. When Saudi Arabia – which recently announced a coalition under its leadership hoping to achieve victory in Yemen – was on the verge of launching the new operation, the Yemeni forces surprised it with military strikes at sea and on land, scattering its cards one after another. Even the headquarters of its officers and operations rooms did not escape the attacks.

Saudi Arabia may have believed it was on the threshold of a new phase of victory in the west, but the continuous strikes have ended its ambition of even being able to recover its mercenaries there. Its naval and ground forces are now groaning under the weight of missiles and drones.
