Yemen hinted at a large-scale ground battle in the Saudi depth, coinciding with Saudi Arabia’s attempt to mobilize for escalation in Yemen.
Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The publication by official Yemeni platforms, some affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sana’a, of a map of Yemen that includes three occupied regions in southern Saudi Arabia sparked wide interaction in Yemeni circles, north and south.
The majority of tweeters agreed that the publication of the old map—which includes Jizan, Najran, and Asir, historically Yemeni cities occupied by Saudi Arabia in the 1930s—carries a strong message to Saudi Arabia, explaining that its meaning is Yemen’s readiness to wage a battle in the Saudi depth to reclaim those three regions.
The Yemeni steps were not limited to publishing the historical document but also included publishing Arab testimonies, most notably from former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser, affirming the affiliation of those regions to Yemen and Sana’a’s right to reclaim them.
These moves come amid numerous developments on the Yemeni-Saudi confrontation front, as the Yemeni forces continue to strike Saudi mobilizations in the west and east of the country as part of new escalation arrangements.
The Yemeni message, according to these sources, is that any ground battle will not be in Yemen but in the Saudi depth.
It is noteworthy that the Yemeni forces had succeeded during the years of confrontation with Saudi Arabia, extending from 2015, in penetrating by land into the depth of the aforementioned three Saudi cities, with the largest city, “Najran,” being on the verge of falling.
