On Monday, Israeli occupation authorities released a new group of 12 Palestinian prisoners from the Gaza Strip. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) transported them to Gaza after they had been held for varying periods in Israeli prisons.
The released prisoners arrived at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, where they underwent necessary medical examinations. Their families awaited their well-being after their release.
In a related context, prisoners’ rights organizations, in a report issued at the end of last month to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, emphasized that the enforced disappearance of detainees from the outside world exacerbates the risks of violations against them, given the lack of information and legal and human rights oversight. The report also documented brutal practices against detainees in Gaza, including torture, ill-treatment, and medical neglect, which have led to the deaths of dozens. The organizations explained that the occupation authorities have allocated a number of detention facilities for Gaza detainees, most notably the Sde Teiman, Anatot, Ofer, and Naftali camps, in addition to the Rekefet section in Ramla prison, noting that testimonies from detainees collected after visiting them revealed shocking and horrific conditions and violations.
