Sana’a Ministry of Transport: 198 Ships Crossed Bab Al-Mandeb Within Five Days

The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Sana’a issued on Monday an official statistic documenting the movement of maritime navigation and trade in the commercial interest area of the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, during the period extending from the twenty-second to the twenty-sixth of this September.

The Ministry affirmed in a statement the continuation and flow of international maritime navigation through this strategic waterway normally and safely; where the navigation apparatuses recorded the crossing of one hundred and ninety-eight commercial ships in both the north and south directions during the past five days.

The statistic explained that the number of ships heading north through the strait reached one hundred and four commercial ships, at a rate of fifty-two point five percent of the total movement, while ninety-four ships crossed toward the south at a rate of forty-seven point five percent.

The statement indicated that Friday, the twenty-fifth of September, recorded the highest daily crossing rate at fifty commercial ships, thirty of which headed north and twenty south, noting that the actual crossing numbers may be higher than that due to some ships turning off automatic tracking devices during navigation.
