The Prisoners’ Media Office, in a statistical report titled “A Digital Analysis of the Developments in the Reality of Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Prisons,” revealed that between 9,350 and 9,400 Palestinian prisoners and detainees were being held in Israeli prisons as of October 2026. This number includes 88 female prisoners and at least 350 children. The report also noted that approximately 3,100 individuals were being held under administrative detention, in addition to 1,419 detainees classified as “illegal detainees” according to Israeli law.
The report further highlighted an escalation in violations against prisoners since the start of the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. These violations include torture, medical neglect, starvation, solitary confinement, and the denial of basic rights. The report also warned of the severe health and psychological consequences of these policies on the prisoners and detainees. Among the most prominent indicators in the report, the number of martyrs of the prisoner movement since the start of the war of extermination has risen to 92, including 53 prisoners from the Gaza Strip. The total number of martyrs of the prisoner movement since 1967 has reached approximately 329, according to the figures presented in the report.
The report also documented the continued withholding of the bodies of 99 martyred prisoners, while demands continue for transparency regarding the circumstances of their deaths and the return of their remains to their families.
It indicated that more than 60% of the martyrs of the prisoner movement since October 7, 2023, died as a result of torture and ill-treatment, amidst escalating reports concerning detention conditions and violations within prisons and interrogation centers.
With regard to Palestinian children, the paper reported that the occupation forces have arrested more than 2,000 children since the start of the war of extermination, while more than 350 children are still under arrest, including children facing administrative detention and detention in harsh conditions. It also addressed the conditions of the 88 Palestinian female prisoners, as well as sick and pregnant prisoners, noting the persistence of fears of lack of medical care, food, isolation and deprivation of basic rights.
