The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today, Wednesday, that only 209 patients and injured people were able to leave the Gaza Strip for treatment abroad during the past October, over just seven days out of 17, due to the strict Israeli restrictions on crossings, which trap thousands of critical cases.
The ministry stated in a press release that these numbers don’t match the scale of the health disaster in the area at all and represent deliberate procrastination that puts the lives of thousands of waiting patients and injured people at direct risk. It pointed out that irregular crossing openings and delays in issuing approvals turn the medical evacuation process into a time trap, during which critical cases may lose their chance of survival.
It called for serious pressure on the enemy authorities to lift the restrictions and force them to keep the crossings permanently and regularly open, to ensure that patients and the injured can be evacuated for treatment abroad.
