The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has led to the absence of specialized centers for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, following the destruction of the Turkish Friendship Hospital at the end of 2023.
The Ministry indicated that diagnostic and treatment services have been suspended and temporarily moved to the Gaza European Hospital, which has also been put out of service.
Patients in general, and cancer patients in particular, are suffering from a severe shortage of medication.
In the Gaza Strip, breast cancer cases represent approximately 30% of cancer cases among women, at a rate of 29 cases per 100,000 women.
