An Emirati threat to bomb oil fields in eastern Yemen shuts down its most important facilities

A major oil production company in eastern Yemen announced on Monday the suspension of its operations while revealing threats to target them. This coincides with escalating confrontations between factions loyal to Saudi Arabia, which have tightened their grip on the facility, and others loyal to the UAE, which are mobilizing to regain it.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al Yemeni:

The company “Petromasila,” a government company managing the oil sectors in the valley and desert of Hadhramaut, reported the suspension of all operations, including production and refining, in the oil fields of the Hadhramaut plateau, including Sector 14.

The shutdown of the company’s operations caused a total power outage in the areas under the control of the Tribal Alliance in the valley and desert of Hadhramaut.

The company attributed the decision to halt production to receiving a threat targeting the facility and its workers, in a clear indication of its bombing.

Factions of the Saudi-backed Tribal Alliance had taken control of the facilities earlier in the week, expelling others loyal to the UAE that follow the “Second Military Region.”

The company had continued its operations normally during the past two days.

The Emirati threat to bomb the facility is a serious development in the context of the confrontation with Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s eastern plateau, where Saudi Arabia and the UAE are waging a proxy battle to settle the file of the oil areas near the Saudi border.
