value of the damage to buildings in Beirut and Mount Lebanon exceeds $365 million

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) stated that the direct damage to buildings in the Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates from the hostilities is estimated at more than US$365 million. Over 7,600 housing units were damaged, including more than 3,000 apartments that were completely destroyed, with approximately 650,000 cubic meters of rubble resulting from the fighting.

This assessment was conducted by the UNDP in coordination with the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon and in cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces and the United Nations Department of Safety and Security. The assessment utilized artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, satellite imagery analysis, and on-site verification to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

The assessment results showed a clear concentration of damage in several areas of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
