The Hebrew newspaper “Maariv” stated that the threat posed by Yemenis to “Israel” isn’t limited to long-range missiles but extends to what it described as the most dangerous and impactful weapon, represented by their ability to threaten navigation in the Red Sea.
Exclusive Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:
The newspaper explained that the real danger lies in the escalating naval activity of Yemeni forces in the Red Sea, pointing to the recent announcement by Sana’a forces banning “Israeli” ships from transiting if “Tel Aviv” escalates its military operations in the region.
It added that the latest round of escalation between Iran and “Israel,” which lasted 17 hours, prevented an escalation that Yemeni forces had threatened, considering that this doesn’t mean the threat has receded.
According to the newspaper, the Yemenis “were not deterred by fear and didn’t retreat but rather retained their strength for the moment of necessity,” considering that their potential return to the confrontation arena serves as a reminder of a strategic danger that cannot be underestimated.
“Maariv” stressed that the severity of this threat exceeds traditional estimates, explaining that targeting a limited number of ships in the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait might be enough to disrupt global navigation, given the sensitivity of this maritime passage connecting Europe and East Asia via the Red Sea.
The newspaper added that Bab Al-Mandeb, along with the Strait of Hormuz, forms two vital hubs for global trade and energy; considering what Iran has done in Hormuz, the Yemenis can replicate its effect in Bab Al-Mandeb if they decide to do so.
