European Mission Warns Ships Linked to “Israel,” Washington, and Riyadh Against Sailing Near Yemeni Waters

The European Union naval mission in the Red Sea, “Aspides,” announced that the risk level for cargo ships linked to “Israel,” the US, and Saudi Arabia has risen while transiting the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden near the Yemeni coast.

The mission stated that the warning also includes ships, regardless of their nationality, that have recently docked at Saudi ports or loaded or unloaded goods there, considering that they may be classified as linked to Saudi interests and may thus become potential targets.

It also recommended that ships that have visited Saudi ports reduce their electronic footprint and limit the use of tracking devices and the transmission of identification data while sailing.

This warning comes as the military spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced the entry into force of the decision to ban maritime navigation on ships linked to Saudi Arabia.

He affirmed that the decision includes the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, and that any ship violating the ban will be targeted, calling on all shipping companies to adhere to the issued instructions to ensure the safety of their ships and crews.

In the same context, the Yemeni News Agency “Saba” quoted a military source as saying that a number of ships have turned back after receiving warnings from the Yemeni Armed Forces to implement the ban.

Reuters news agency also reported that oil tankers loaded with Saudi crude have changed course and turned back in the Red Sea heading towards the Suez Canal, an indication of the impact on navigation movement due to the new measures.

These developments come amid escalating tensions in the Red Sea, after Sana’a announced the expansion of its military measures against navigation linked to Saudi Arabia.

It affirmed that these steps come in response to the continuation of military operations and the siege, while the Yemeni Armed Forces had earlier announced the execution of a ballistic missile and drone attack targeting Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia.
