Military Operations Resume in Hormuz as Iranian-Gulf Negotiations on Its Management Fail

Military operations resumed in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, following the failure of negotiations on its management.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced earlier today the interception of 3 oil tankers during their attempt to violate Iran’s procedures in the strait.

The interception of the ships came as the failure of Iranian-Gulf negotiations on managing the strait was revealed.

Reuters quoted an Iranian official as confirming his country’s rejection of the Omani proposal.

The American-Omani proposal calls for establishing a regional administration to manage the strait, similar to the Strait of Malacca.

Through the new proposal, America aims to prevent Iran from collecting revenues in the strait by distributing them among Gulf countries, including non-riparian states, while Iran insists on negotiating with the Sultanate of Oman.

The strait is currently one of the most important points of contention, with Iran insisting on full management in coordination with Oman, while America is trying to restore it to its pre-war state last February.
