The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) highlighted today, Thursday, the suffering of Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip and the hardship they endure in obtaining their basic needs of food, water, and safety.
The organization pointed out in a post on the “X” platform, to the case of 10-year-old Hala, who was forced with her family to flee from Beit Lahia, only to find herself in a tent at the fishermen’s port in Gaza.
It explained that Hala spends her days waiting to get drinking water and searching for food, instead of going to school, while she remains inside her tent at night amid the sounds of nearby fishing boats.
UNICEF quoted Hala as saying: “Now I live in a tent instead of my home, and I search for food and water instead of going to school,” adding: “They keep firing at us.”
The organization affirmed that Hala’s story reflects the devastating impact of war on children’s rights, depriving them of the most basic elements of childhood, foremost among them safety, food, water, and education.
