The captive doctor, Hossam Abu Safiya, revealed, on Wednesday, horrific details about the circumstances of his arrest and the violations he was subjected to inside the prisons of the Israeli occupation, in the latest message he conveyed through his lawyer. Abu Safiya confirmed that he was severely beaten with severe beatings in various parts of his body, including sensitive areas, using hands, legs and batons. He explained that the attacks are repeated directly and punitively after the lawyers’ visits, under harsh conditions of detention. The captive doctor indicated that he was deliberately deprived of sleep, by making noise and operating the loudspeakers throughout the night. Abu Safiya pointed out that he was subjected to a constant threat, and was warned against conveying the details of what he was facing inside the prison, to his lawyer. The human rights organization Doctors reported that Abu Safiya had previously suffered serious injuries, including the head, face and other parts of his body. The organization indicated that the injuries included severe injuries to the left eye, in addition to repeated complaints of pain and injuries to the head, chest and sensitive areas, as a result of the continuous attacks. The occupation forces arrested Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya on December 27, 2024, during the storming of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, while the medical facility was operating in the circumstances of the war. Abu Safiya suffers from chronic diseases, including heart problems and high blood pressure, amid a deterioration in his health during his detention. International international, human rights and medical bodies continue to demand to ensure the safety of the captive doctor, and to provide the necessary medical care for him.
