Southern Lebanon: Israeli attacks continue

Three people were killed in southern Lebanon within 24 hours. One was killed by Israeli artillery fire, and two others died when unexploded ordnance detonated during the olive harvest season. This coincided with an Israeli airstrike, artillery shelling, and heavy machine gun fire.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that a citizen was killed in the town of Yater in the Bint Jbeil district by Israeli artillery fire, while another was killed in the town of Frun in the same district when a landmine exploded as he was inspecting his olive grove.

Explosion of a Suspicious Object

In the town of Ain Ebel in the same district, Edgar Jilo, a member of the Internal Security Forces, was killed yesterday when a suspicious object, believed to be unexploded ordnance, detonated while he was working in a field on the outskirts of the town. In the Nabatieh district, Israeli aircraft launched an airstrike on the town of Kfar Tebnit, while its outskirts were subjected to artillery shelling. Israeli forces also conducted heavy machine gun fire in the area between Kfar Tebnit and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah.

In the Marjeyoun district, an interceptor missile exploded over the town of Khiam. In the Bint Jbeil district, Israeli artillery shelling targeted the Al-Araish area in the town of Haris, and Wadi Al-Salouqi towards the outskirts of the town of Shaqra. The shelling also struck the vicinity of the town of Yater and the valleys adjacent to the towns of Beit Leef and Sarbin. Israeli forces also conducted sweeps with heavy machine guns towards Wadi Al-Hujair and the town of Al-Ghandouriya. In the Tyre district, Wadi Zibqin and the town of Al-Mansouri were subjected to Israeli artillery shelling.

Amid the dangers posed by war remnants, the towns of Frun and Yater warned residents against entering their olive groves before consulting with the relevant authorities, fearing the presence of cluster bombs and landmines left behind by the recent Israeli war.

These developments come in the context of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon since March 2nd, which have resulted in the deaths of 4,386 people and injuries to 12,413 others, according to statistics released on September 25th.
