Bloomberg: Riyadh Airport Is Closed Without a Clear Plan and Airlines Are Prevented from Using Alternative Airports

Follow-ups — Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The “Bloomberg” agency revealed today that officials in the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation and King Khalid International Airport affirmed the continuation of the closure of the airport without clear plans to reopen it, in a development that reflects the depth of the crisis that the Saudi capital is living through.

The agency explained that the airport’s management informed the airlines that it can’t be used as an alternative airport in emergency cases, and required obtaining prior permission for any operations, in a step that increases the complexity of air navigation movement in the region.

It noted that the continuation of the closure of Riyadh Airport isolates the Saudi capital from air access, and constitutes a major challenge for the Kingdom, while the continuation of the military operations and the absence of a date for ending the air restrictions exacerbate the disruption of aviation movement, and both affect the connection of the Saudi capital with international destinations.
