Sheikh Saad al-Farajahi, a social dignitary from Socotra said that the island has been “witnessing a flour and various foodstuffs crisis”, YPA reporting on Sunday.

“For a whole week, I have been looking for a bag of flour for my children in the island’s markets to no avail,” al-Farajahi said.

He accused UAE and Saudi Arabia of being “behind the famine that is killing the sons of Socotra, and causing an unprecedented crisis in the lack of flour and wheat,”

“The specter of starvation is gradually hitting the island,” he added.

He stressed that “Saudi Arabia and the UAE agree to disrupt service life, and to thwart any meetings of the executive office in the province.”

Al-Farajahi called for a massive popular uprising against the “UAE-Saudi occupation” on the island, in order to restore the national sovereignty and dignity of the residents on the Socotra.

He pointed out that a UAE militia has thwarted a meeting held at the end of May, chaired by Governor Ramzi Mahrous and aimed at developing a plan and strategy to provide food and secure the island during the monsoon period.

In the past hours of Sunday, Socotra witnessed angry protest demanding the UAE’s departure from the island.

The UAE imposed its military control over the island’s capital city of Hadibo in June 2020, after expelling Islah Party authorities stationed there.

Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defense Affairs in Sana’a government, Lieutenant-General, Jalal Al-Ruwaishan said that “that since the announcement of the truce, all evidence indicates continued violations of the Saudi coalition and its non-compliance with its terms, and that what has been achieved so far is not equal to 10% of what was announced in the terms.”

In a statement to Almasirah, Al-Ruwaishan said that if the truce continues without opening the ports, paying salaries, and opening the airport, it is baseless and our people persistent on taking its rights.

He added that “if the US-Saudi aggression’s violations continue, then Yemeni people will not accept a failed truce, pointing out that our people and our Armed Forces do not depend on the truce and credibility of the forces of aggression.”

Al-Ruwaishan further explained that the National Delegation focused on lifting the suffering of the Yemeni people, pointing out that the Saudi coalition did not abide by the truce in the required form and the Yemeni people realizing this matter.

The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Sunday warned the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition of the repercussions of the fuel crisis that it fabricated during the past hours in Aden, and the rest of the southern provinces.

Member of the “National Assembly” of the STC, Wathiq al-Hasani, called on the pro-coalition government, headed by Maeen Abdulmalik, to unify the price of oil between the cities of Aden and Marib, away from what he called “racism.”

“At a time when citizens are waiting you to ease their suffering at the price of oil at least to 10,000 riyals, not raise it to 26,000,” Al-Hasani said in a tweet, addressing Maeen Abdulmalik’s government, considering this increase in the oil price “the largest looting of citizens.”

The Saudi-led coalition forces continued to violate the UN-brokered humanitarian and military truce in Yemen for the 77th consecutive day, with a total of 8,410 violations, A military source in Sana’a said on Saturday.

The source added that during the past 24 hours, the coalition forces committed 178 violations, including 87 sorties of armed reconnaissance and spy planes in the airspace of the provinces of Marib, Taiz, Hajjah, Jawf, Saada, Dhalea, and Bayda, and the border fronts.

The source indicated that the coalition forces have established combat fortifications, including two breaches behind the defense hill and south of Al-Dubayrah in Jizan, and a breach by creating fortifications in the Green Hill in Moris district of Dhalea province.

The source indicated that a violation was recorded with an air strike by armed reconnaissance aircraft on the homes of citizens and the sites of Sana’a forces and popular committees (Houthis’ fighters) in Al-Fakher area in Dhalea, as a result of which the citizen, Muhib Muhammad Salman, was injured.

The source pointed out that 62 violations were monitored by shooting at citizens’ homes and positions of Sana’a forces in Marib, Taiz, Hajjah, Saada, Dhalea, and the border fronts.

He added that 25 violations had been recorded with missile strikes targeting army and popular committee sites in the province of Marib, Taiz, Hajjah, Saada, and Dhalea, and the border fronts.

The source indicated that intense artillery shelling of the coalition forces targeted the sites of Sana’a forces and popular committees (Houthis’ fighters) in Al-Madafin and al-Malahidh areas in Saada, the sites of the army and committees in al-Batoul area in Jizan region, as well as the sites of the army and committees in Najran region.

It is worth noting that the coalition forces committed 6,322 violations during the past two months of the UN armistice period before its extension.
