The World Health Organization (WHO)’s representative in Yemen, Adham Rashad Abdel Moneim, has expressed the organization’s apology to Sana’a regarding the expired medicines belonging to the organization that were seized in Hodeidah port.
During his meeting in Sanaa with the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdulmohsen Tawoos, Abdel Moneim indicated that that was a mistake by the organization and it would not be repeated.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed the requirements of the health sector in light of the continued war and siege.
Tawoos considered the continued closure of Sana’a International Airport and preventing the entry of medical equipment and supplies a war crime and a collective punishment for Yemenis.
He stressed the importance of working to reopen Sana’a Airport, so that patients, students and expatriates can travel abroad and return home safely.
