Pro-Houthis Supreme Political Council (SPC), the highest ruling authority in Sana’a, referred on Wednesday the request to extend the UN-brokered armistice to study according to the evaluation of the current phase of the armistice, which will end on the second of next June.
The Council urged on taking into account the extent of the Saudi coalition’s commitment to the terms of the current truce, and placing the opening of roads in Taiz and other provinces according to the truce terms among the priorities that are being worked on to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
The SPC noted the importance of the commitment of the United Nations and the Saudi coalition that controls oil and gas wealth, port revenues, and the operations of the Central Bank, whose functions were transferred to Aden, to pay the overdue salaries to all state employees.
In the meeting, the SPC members expressed their dissatisfaction with the obstruction of the entry of fuel ships to Hodeida port, the delay in the conduct of flights, the failure to open the Cairo destination so far, and the United Nations negligence in carrying out its duty as it should in this regard.
They stressed that the failure to compensate the number of ships and flights reduces the chances of extending the truce, reiterating its firm stance towards a just and honorable peace that enhances the sovereignty and independence of Yemen.
The Council also affirmed that dealing seriously with the humanitarian file without fragmentation to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people is the correct approach to that.
