The Lebanese Minister of Education, Abbas Al-Halabi, announced on Sunday evening the suspension of schools and the adoption of “distance education” Monday and Tuesday, in the capital Beirut and areas located in the center of the country.
The Lebanese minister’s decision followed an Israeli military escalation against Lebanon, represented by shelling that twice targeted buildings in the capital, Beirut, one in the Ras al-Nabaa area and the other in the Mar Elias area.
“Official and private educational institutions in both Beirut and a number of regions will be closed on Monday and Tuesday and distance education will be adopted,” al-Halabi said in a statement.
In an inconclusive toll, the strike on the Mar Elias area killed two people and wounded 13 others, while the raid on Ras al-Nabaa killed one person and wounded 3 others, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
