UNRWA: Education will ensure that Gaza’s children do not become a lost generation

Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said today that by providing education services, we ensure that Gaza’s children do not become a lost generation.
“In Gaza, amid the humanitarian catastrophe, over the past four months, our teams have delivered back-to-learning sessions to thousands of displaced children whose formal education was halted in October 2023,” Lazzarini explained in a post on the X platform.

“Through recreational activities, psychological support, basic reading, writing and numeracy exercises, we try in the most desperate circumstances to do what we can to ensure that these children do not become a lost generation.”

“The ceasefire in Gaza will be the crucial first step to get children back on the path of education,” he stressed.
