Freed Palestinian prisoners arrive in Gaza in a festive atmosphere

More than 100 Palestinian prisoners released from the Israeli occupation prisons arrived in the Gaza Strip on Saturday through the Kerem Shalom crossing, east of the southern city of Rafah, hours after the arrival of other released prisoners to Ramallah in the West Bank as part of the first phase of the prisoner exchange agreement and the ceasefire.

This is the fifth batch of prisoners released by Israel, which included the release of 183 prisoners, 42 of them from the West Bank, 3 Jerusalemites, and 138 from Gaza, including 111 arrested after October 7, 2023.

The released prisoners were transported in two buses accompanied by a team from the International Committee of the Red Cross, through the Kerem Shalom crossing, to the “European Gaza” Hospital for medical examinations, and the Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed the transfer of 7 freed Palestinian prisoners to hospitals, due to their poor health conditions.

The prisoners were received by thousands of Palestinians, who received them warmly and with songs, and as soon as the buses arrived in the Gaza Strip, there was joy and celebrations among the crowds that welcomed the liberators.
