Gaza | Famine doubles, and subsidized bakeries stop operating due to depletion of flour and fuel

The bakeries subsidized by the World Food Program in the Gaza Strip announced their complete cessation of work after the depletion of flour and fuel amid the continued Israeli siege, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The head of the Bakeries Association in Gaza, Abdel Nasser Al-Ajrami, confirmed that Gaza is facing a systematic starvation war, noting that 18 bakeries supported by the program have stopped operating, while 6 others had previously closed due to the depletion of cooking gas.

Al-Ajrami warned that the continuation of the current situation may lead to the spread of famine, as thousands of families have become without bread, stressing that the only solution lies in opening the crossings immediately and introducing essential materials.

He issued an urgent call to the international community and humanitarian institutions to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to allow the entry of flour, fuel, and essential production materials, confirming that the crisis goes beyond bakeries to threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents who depend on bread as a staple food.

Al-Ajrami considered what is happening a direct result of the siege and closure, noting that the efforts made to communicate with the relevant authorities have not received any response, amidst political intransigence that increases the suffering of the population.
