The Palestinian Ministry of Health warns of the spread of polio in Gaza

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has warned of an imminent danger threatening the lives of children due to the Israeli occupation’s ban on the entry of polio vaccines. This comes after the World Children’s Fund warned of a grave threat to the lives of Gaza’s children due to food shortages and malnutrition.

The Ministry of Health confirmed in a press statement that this “constitutes a time bomb that threatens the spread of the epidemic.”

Since March 2, the occupation authorities have imposed a tight blockade on the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of medical supplies, medicines, and equipment, as well as food aid and fuel. This has caused a major crisis that threatens the lives of residents with death from disease and starvation.

Among the items Israel has prevented from entering the population are vaccines necessary to prevent polio.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza indicated that the ban on the entry of vaccines represents an indirect targeting of children in the Gaza Strip, noting that 602,000 children are at risk of permanent paralysis and chronic disabilities unless the necessary vaccines are made available.
