Gaza Health announces a deficit of 87 percent in laboratory testing materials

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned on Saturday that 87 percent of laboratory supplies are unavailable in the Strip due to Israeli restrictions.

In a statement marking World Blood Donor Day, the Ministry said, “87 percent of laboratory supplies and testing materials are unavailable, negatively impacting the ability of laboratories to provide services to patients and the wounded.”

It added that “the shortage of testing equipment and laboratory supplies exacerbates the challenges facing medical teams in conducting the necessary tests for patients and the injured.”

The Ministry issued a warning about what it described as “catastrophic” challenges facing the operation of laboratories and blood banks in Gaza, given the severe shortage of laboratory supplies and testing equipment resulting from the Israeli blockade.

The Ministry stressed the need for continued relief interventions to support the work of laboratories and blood banks, ensuring the continuity of health services in light of the current challenges.
