The repercussions of confrontations with Hezbollah hit tourism in Israel

Follow-ups – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

Inbound tourism in the Zionist entity is facing a worsening crisis as the number of foreign visitors continues to decline, despite talk of de-escalation and a ceasefire in the north.

According to data from the Israeli Bureau of Statistics, the number of tourists in May 2026 fell to 64.4 thousand tourists, compared to 126.8 thousand in May 2025, while the number dropped by 83% compared to May 2023, which recorded 376.4 thousand tourists. This was reflected in tourism revenues, which fell from $4.85 billion in 2023 to $2.2 billion in 2024, then to $2.1 billion in 2025.

The repercussions of the crisis are largely concentrated in Jerusalem, which typically receives about half of the tourists. The decline in Christian delegations over the past two years has led to the closure of historical facilities due to the absence of visitors.

The report attributes the continued contraction to the decline in the entity’s global image, in addition to disrupted flights and the high cost of travel, as well as the persistent security concerns that have prevented tourist flows from returning to their previous levels.

The effects of the decline have extended to the entertainment, restaurant, and hospitality sectors, with lower consumer spending and worsening challenges of labor shortages and supply chain disruptions.
