A member of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, Aladdin Boroujerdi, said in a press statement that sending an Iranian civilian aircraft to Sana’a International Airport represents an important step towards breaking the siege imposed on Yemen, affirming that “his country will continue its efforts to end it at various levels.”

Boroujerdi affirmed that Tehran intends to enhance cooperation with Yemen, particularly in the commercial and health sectors, announcing that Iranian hospitals are open to Yemeni patients to provide medical care for them, within the framework of alleviating the humanitarian impact of the siege.

Boroujerdi expressed Iran’s gratitude to the Yemeni delegation for participating in the funeral ceremonies of Sayyed Ali Khamenei, sending greetings to “the leader of Ansar Allah, Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, whose stance we are proud of, and to the steadfast and struggling Yemeni people.”

An Iranian civilian aircraft had landed at Sana’a International Airport on Friday, as the first aircraft to break the Saudi siege imposed on Yemen for 11 years, while Saudi warplanes failed to thwart the step after being forced by Sana’a forces’ defenses to leave Yemeni airspace, which they had violated concurrently with the flight.

For its part, Sana’a forces affirmed their rejection of the continued Saudi siege, and that flights between Tehran and Sana’a will continue regardless of the consequences.
