American Advice to Saudi Arabia to Avoid Escalation in Yemen

The US offered new advice to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday regarding the confrontation with the “Houthis.”

This follows a request by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for American intervention.

Exclusive – Al-Khabar Al-Yemeni:

The Wall Street Journal published a report reviewing the history of confrontations with those it described as the “Houthis.”

The report included statements by officials in the Trump administration speaking of concerns over Sana’a’s decision to close the Bab Al-Mandeb passage, indicating that the step could affect the global economy and potentially paralyze Saudi oil exports, which have come to rely on the Red Sea instead of the Strait of Hormuz.

The newspaper invoked the positions of America and Israel during the confrontations that accompanied the Gaza support operations in the Red Sea, noting that the two allies avoided entering new confrontations with Sana’a during the war on Iran for fear of a return to wide-scale confrontations.

The newspaper indicated that Saudi Arabia itself worked to open diplomatic communication channels with the “Houthis” for fear of the closure of Bab al-Mandab at that time.

What the report contained was considered a clear American signal to Saudi Arabia that confrontation with Yemen would be costly not only to it but also to the global economy.

The timing of the American messages, which came after the revelation of the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s request for American support, indicates an American reluctance to engage in the confrontation for fear of complicating the situation in light of the failure of the Hormuz battle.
